Anna Maria Island Chamber

MISSION STATEMENT

To serve our membership & community through proactive leadership that builds a Positive Business Climate while enhancing and protecting the quality of life for all.

The Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce was established in 1949 after the post WWII building boom saw the Island evolve into a thriving trio of separate municipalities: Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach. More community improvements and growth to expand the local tourism industry along with the businesses to support it created a need for the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce on the Island.

In 1979 the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce reestablished itself as a strong business promoting entity. The AMI Chamber engaged in helping to support Anna Maria Island’s much needed infrastructure and tourism industry needs as a result of growing local and national interests on the beautiful 7 mile island. At this time the AMI Chamber had 138 members.

Today the Anna Maria Island Chamber of Commerce has nearly 600 members and plays a fundamental role in promoting local businesses and area tourism. Our Chamber of Commerce works as a liaison between the government and private sectors. Our partnerships benefit our members and allow us to develop beneficial programs that help our community. We work closely with Manatee County & local city officials as well as the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (BACVB), the Economic Development Council (EDC) – where we have a seat and the Manatee County Emergency Management System on disaster relief.

In addition, The AMI Chamber proudly supports its community. Since 2014 our Trolley program, developed in partnership with Manatee County, has given away over $230,00 to local non & not-for-profit Island organizations in an effort to preserve our island, its wildlife and its colorful and unique arts and culture.

We also host fun, unique community festivals and events each year with a portion of proceeds benefitting our College Scholarship fund which awards 4 local seniors aid in their college expenses.  With its long history of support to our island, its residents and our members, it is no wonder The AMI Chamber won the 2007-2008 Florida Chamber of the Year Award.
