“I Hate Hamlet” by Paul Rudnick, has been chosen by The Island Players as the third play of our 70th Season. The comedy/drama will be directed by Preston Boyd, Co-Produced by West Bay Landscape, Inc. and will run from January 10-27, 2019.

Andrew, a successful TV soap opera star in LA, moves to NYC to try his luck in theater after his TV show is cancelled. But, the only stage role his agent, Lillian, has found for him is as Hamlet in Shakespeare in the Park. But, Andrew hates Hamlet! Fortunately, his real estate agent, Felicia, finds an apartment for him which was long ago occupied by America’s greatest Hamlet, John Barrymore. Felicia, also a psychic medium, is able to call forth the ghost of John Barrymore, who teaches Andrew important messages about stage acting, life and love. Meanwhile, a new TV Comedy series is about to make Andrew an offer back in LA. Now, he must decide, “To Stay, or not to Stay”.

The talented cast includes; Carolyn Zaput as Felicia, Caleb Allen as Andrew Rally, Katherine Dye as Deirdre McDavey, Caroline Cox as Lillian Troy, James Thaggard as John Barrymore and Brian Dewey as Gary Peter Lefkowitz. Come see them, you will be glad you did!

Performances, held at the theater located at 10009 Gulf Drive, Anna Maria, are Tues. – Sat. at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets are $20 each, The Box Office opens on Wednesday, January 2nd and is open thereafter from 9 –1 Mondays – Saturdays. On performance nights, the Box Office opens at 7 pm and for Sunday matinees, it opens at 1 pm. Visa, MasterCard or Discover are accepted.
